With Effort at BFA World Championships. |
Jason
and Leslie Willis have been striving for success from the first day
they met. Breeding, buying and building horses has been their dedicated
business. Leslie and Jason are not new to the winners circle, having
won NBHA, IFR, IBRA and many other barrel races across the nation.
In December of 2005, they saw the culmination of years of hard work
come true when Leslie and their horse Playing With Effort was named
the Barrel Futurities of America (BFA) World Champions. |
| Playing
With Effort is a son of Special Effort and his dam is Playing With
Cash by Takin On the Cash. Before becoming a barrel horse he ran on
the track in AQHA races and earned a Speed Index of 91. He had one
win, once 2nd at 2 and 3 and earnings of $7,497. Little did Jason
and Leslie know that one day he would be the BFA World Champion. |

| Each
year, starting in the previous December, top trainers from across
the nation compete at BFA sanctioned events across the nation to accumulate
points to win this title. Horses that compete in these futurity competitions,
are not allowed to compete in any barrel race for any reason before
December 1st of their 3 year old year. This can be very confusing
for most people. For example. Your horse is aged for as of Jan 1,
2005. They can not compete in a barrel race before December 1, 2005.
If they do they are NOT "futurity eligible". This means
they can not compete at a BFA event. So, once Dec 1, 2005 passes you
can compete. In this example, your horse would turn 4 on Jan 1, 2006.
Only horses aged 4 and younger can compete in BFA sanctioned events.
Thus, it takes the best of the best to train and compete with these
young horses. |
